For those that followed Rails Envy, you’re probably aware that Gregg Pollack and Jason Seifer have discontinued the Rails Envy podcast. The Rails Envy website is still there, for those who are checking it out as one of the 9 Resources for New Ruby on Rails Developers.
I was considering starting my own podcast to take its place, but Gregg Pollack informed me that he was planning to start a new podcast. It’s now up at http://ruby5.envylabs.com and available on iTunes.
I really like the format of the website. It makes it easy to find the different stories covered and add comments on each thing covered. You can click on each topic from the episode and click a fast-forward button that skips to that segment in the podcast, so you can hear what was discussed.
The podcast itself is a little short. I think I liked the format a little longer. With the new format, I feel like I’m waiting for the rest of the podcast. I also like to check out the links from the podcast and that goes way to fast for me. I also miss the campy sound effects, though this being the first podcast, we may find ourselves getting more of those in future podcasts.
Overall, though, the news is what is really important. There is plenty of stuff to check out and the new layout does make browsing the links more interesting and easier to follow.
